Calling all cadets! Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Experience opens at Telus Spark, Calgary

It’s an interactive celebration of everything Trekkie. Telus Spark opens the latest EMS Entertainment travelling exhibit this weekend called Star Trek: The Starfleet Academy Experience. Visitors can step into a Starfleet Academy replica, learn to speak Klingon, use a phaser, and guide the Starship Enterprise through virtual threat. “It’s that opportunity to test yourself as a potential recruit, but also the opportunity to see what the history of the television series was,” said Jennifer Martin, the CEO of Telus Spark.

The genius of Leonardo da Vinci highlighted in Beurs van Berlage

From 27 January to 20 June 2017, the travelling exhibition Leonardo da Vinci – Artist – Inventor – Genius arrives at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. This major retrospective shows that Leonardo da Vinci was much more than simply the painter of the Mona Lisa. He opened his mind in the 15th century and was ahead of his time by several hundred years in both his thoughts and actions.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) is widely acclaimed as the most broad-minded and brilliant scientist, artist and inventor ever to live. Almost five centuries after his death, interest in his work remains unabated. The recent discovery in Paris of an original pen and ink drawing by him (estimated value € 15 million) and the acquisition of a private collection by the Polish authorities, including Da Vinci’s Lady with an Ermine (1490) both made front-page news worldwide. You’re welcome: On October 28th, Captain Kirk and his crew land at the Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen – for an exhibition which is singular in Germany. “Star Trek – Science & Fiction“ shows exclusive exhibits from 50 years from the most iconic universe of all times.

50 years ago, the first episode of “Star Trek“ was broadcast on US television. Now coming Thursday the movie „Star Trek Beyond“ starts in German cinemas. The jubilee year will be a feast for all „Trekkies“ and fans of this cult series.
